HOLY WEEK 2016

Benefits of CSR!

Benefits of CSR

Please read to have more knowledge about CSR
THANKS !

Benefits of Corporate Social Responsibility

When corporations and businesses participate in Corporate Social Responsibility, it not only benefits the business itself, but its employees, customers, community, and the world as a whole.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate Social Responsibility can also be considered corporate citizenship, or responsible business. It is a business model adopted by corporations that wish to improve their company, communities, and more. It is a self-regulating system that commits the corporation to following the laws of business, maintaining a high ethical standard, and following international norms. Often, Corporate Social Responsibility results in businesses committing themselves to certain social goods, or even an attempt to improve the environment. Overall, Corporate Social Responsibility is a company’s promise to create a positive impact in the world; this does not mean they do not have a profit motive, it merely means they care about the world while trying to make money.

Business

One of the main benefits of Corporate Social Responsibility is to the business itself. It creates a positive image for the business, and will result in more customers. Often, customers will want to support a business that does good for the community. This is because when the customer supports that business, they are also helping themselves in the future. In addition, investors are more likely to become a part of the business, because people want to invest in a business that has high ethical standards and has a strong customer base. Also, energy-saving measures, or increasing sustainability, will save the company energy and money in the long-run. Overall, Corporate Social Responsibility will result in winning over customers and more investors, which will give the business more money.

Employees

A survey conducted on “Net Impact” found that more than half of workers wish to be a part of a company where they can make an impact, and that making an impact would make them happy. This means that a corporation that practices Corporate Social Responsibility will have happier workers, which benefits the company and the employees. In addition, 35% of the respondents said that they would accept a pay cut in order to work for a company that practices Corporate Social Responsibility. This statistic is very telling; to many people, money is less important than making a difference in the world, and this indicates that a business that cares about the world will be more successful as a whole.

Community and the World

The benefits of Corporate Social Responsibility to the local community and the world is self-explanatory. A company committed to Corporate Social Responsibility will often support projects that will do things like lower pollution, or lower energy output, or in some cases, companies will even give portions of their profit to charities, or will have their employees volunteer for community-building non-profits. Overall, a commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility will help the community surrounding the corporation, but it will also have a larger impact on the world, particularly if multiple companies commit to it.

Stewardship and sustainable development

Sustainable development and Environmental stewardship
Sustainable development and Environmental stewardship in any society would not take place, unless the populace has a keen understanding as to why such is important. We believe education and knowledge plays a fundamental component in this regard. Therefore, for the past few years, we have been concentrating on key components that would facilitate education and knowledge, which in turn leads to self empowerment. We have concentrated on items such a reuse of personal computers, reuse of text books, reuse of eye glasses in local and international arena with reputed non profit organizations. We believe a resource such as personal computers, text books, eye glasses that have already been produced should have its useful life extended, wherever and whenever possible. We also believe these components are a few of the fundamental tools for education and knowledge.
By providing the components mentioned above to those who otherwise would not have access to such due to lack of access and affordability and no cost to the recipient, starts the journey of self empowerment of the vulnerable in our global society. This empowerment of the most vulnerable has a cascading effect in society that enriches the process towards Sustainable development and Environmental stewardship. We believe this application has relevance in any community throughout the world.

Sources of CSR

Ultimate sources of business ethics and CSR

2. Social doctrine of the Church: Gospel based

3. Natural law
The moral norm knowable to human reason without the aid of supernatural revelation, the one and the same law that is impressed in the very nature of all human person of all times.

4.History
Human events can also be a valid point of departure when arguing in favor of corporate cirizenship.

Flor Contemplacion- A Diplomatic incident

Isang nakakalungkot na istorya !

Flor Contemplacion, a 42 year old Filipina maid, was convicted by a Singaporean court of killing another Filipina maid, Delia Magaand Nicholas Huang, the threeyear old Singaporean son of her employer on May 4th, 1991.
She had originally confessed to the murders. It was, however, later claimed that she made the confession under duress, and it has also been claimed that she was of doubtful sanity at the time they were committed, although this seems unlikely.
She was hanged by Darshan Singh, at 6.00 a.m. on Friday, the 17th of March 1995together with three male drug traffickers, amidst scenes of unusually tight security. Eight policemen, including two armed with machine guns and wearing flak jackets, stood outside the prison gates with two dogs.  Police cars and motorcycles patrolled the street continuously, apparently to deter protests by the estimated 75,000 Filipinos working inSingapore.
Anger swept the Philippines as the news of the execution broke. Leftist and feminist groups, human rights activists and the media denounced Singapore as a barbaric, tyrannical and totalitarian state with no respect for human rights. The Roman Catholic Church called Singapore a state without mercy.
Diplomatic wrangling.
The execution caused a major diplomatic row between Singapore and the Philippines, afterSingapore rejected an appeal from thePhilippines President, Fidel Ramos. There were protests outside the Singapore Embassy in Manila.
Flor had said, on the eve of her execution, that she was ready to die after final pleas for clemency and a new trial had been rejected. The Philippine Foreign Secretary said that she had thanked Filipinos for their efforts in trying to save her, but had said that if the stay of execution will only delay the carrying out of her sentence, she preferred to have an early end to everyone's suffering instead.
Flor was visited in Changi prison daily by her children, a 21-year-old son, a 17-year-old daughter and 15-year-old twin boys who had last seen their mother in 1989, but her husband Efren didn't visit her because, "I could not bear to see her and not be able to touch her or embrace her after seven years."
He had made an emotional appeal a week earlier for help in saving his wife.
She was informed of the date and the time of the hanging on the Tuesday (14th March) before the execution, as is customary in Singapore and apparently took the news calmly. "She was resigned to her fate and she tried to be strong and told the children to be strong and love one another."
The Philippine government had requested a stay of execution. Solicitor-General Raul Goco, in a letter to the Singapore government, asked for this "to put all doubts to rest before the case of Mrs. Contemplacion comes to a final conclusion." He had urged Singapore to defer the hanging "on humanitarian considerations."
Philippine President Fidel Ramos had personally asked
Singapore to postpone the execution until new evidence, testimony from another Filipino maid had been evaluated. But the Singapore government said it "carefully investigated this new evidence and found it to be untrue." Therefore, the Singaporean President, Ong Teng Cheong, found there was no basis to justify a stay of execution.
At least two maids came forward during the week prior to the hanging to suggest that the little boy drowned during an epileptic fit in a bathtub and his father killed Mrs. Maga and framed Flor in a fit of rage.
One, Virginie Parumog, said in an affidavit she had shared a cell with Flor and had evidence of her innocence. In her affidavit, Parumogsaid Flor told her that, "Della immediately phoned her employer about the incident. Her male employer immediately rushed home. Very angry, the employer strangled Della's neck." Then the employer called the police and implicated Flor in the double murder.
"These claims are pure fabrication," a Singaporean Home Affairs Ministry statement said. "The wild and baseless allegations ofVirginie Parumog are yet another attempt to stir up controversy over the FlorContemplacion case, without any regard for the truth."
The Home Ministry said Parumog claimedContemplacion told her that when visiting Della Maga, the two maids had discovered Nicholas had drowned. According to the Ministry, when the police arrived,Contemplacion was not at the house. She was traced later through entries made in DellaMaga's diary. In addition, it was not the boy's father who phoned police, it was the mother.
The Ministry statement also dismissed other claims made by Parumog, including that Florhad undergone electric shock treatment while awaiting trial and had been drugged. They said she was given two electro-encephalogram (EEG) tests, one of which was ordered by her own defence psychiatrist and was given medication only for headaches and a sore throat.
The statement also pointed out that Flor had had ample opportunity to protest her innocence while in jail and had chosen not to do so. "During her imprisonment FlorContemplacion had nine visits by Philippine embassy officials. The government did not receive any representations regarding complaints of ill treatment or claims toContemplacion's innocence," the ministry said. "Are we to believe that if Flor Contemplacionfelt that she was innocent she would chose to say so only to a prostitute in prison," it added.
According to the Home Ministry, Parumog had been arrested in Singapore on June the 25th, 1992, and had signed a statement saying that she had come to the island republic for prostitution and "was charging Singaporeans $100 ($70) per sexual entertainment."
After the execution.
Flor Contemplacion's body was released and flown back to Manila and was greeted by the President's wife, Amelita, at the airport. Perhaps, extraordinarily for a country that was actively trying to restore the death penalty itself at the time, President Ramos and the Philippine people saw Contemplacion as a heroine. Some mourners waved white handkerchiefs and others clenched their fists and carried placards saying "Justice for FlorContemplacion" as her funeral cortege passed through Manila's streets.
Thousands jammed into the small town of San Pablo where she had lived to pay their last respects to Flor. More than 5,000 town residents and supporters from Manila and nearby areas flocked round her one-room house to try to catch a glimpse of her body in its open white coffin.
Roman Catholic Bishop Teodoro Bacani held a requiem mass in the town's crowded cathedral for her. He told the congregation - "She is a symbol of millions of Filipinos driven by poverty to take their chances abroad," "Their lot is pathetic. Their own government neglects them," he added, evoking applause from the congregation.
The aftermath.
President Ramos set up an inquiry into the case and ordered the exhumation of DeliaMaga's remains to determine how she died. Her former husband complained that he and the family had never seen the autopsy report on her. Conrado Maga said his wife's body bore bruises on the shoulder, neck and face.
"We will try to determine if these are still present and if these could have been caused by a female," a Philippine detective, MaximoReyes, said in a radio interview. He said they may have to rely on bone findings since the remains have been buried for four years. "Doctors can tell in bone findings if there are fractures or cracks. That means it is not possible for a woman to have done that. It could have been someone stronger," said Reyes, who will initially examine the corpse.
This new inquiry seemed to conclude that the Singaporeans were right and that FlorContemplacion probably was guilty although many in the Philippines will never accept its findings.
Relationships between Singapore and the Philippines have slowly got back to normal.

Technology vs. Manpower

Today, wherever you look, will find new disruptive technologies, set to change the world and scientists are constantly striving to make life easier. Does this evolution of technology replacing manpower?

No matter how improved the technology is, most of it is required to be operated by humans. There are many technologies that operates on its own and there is no need for human interference. Even such technologies are made by humans in the first place and when they break down, they require humans for repairing.

In spite of so many technological up-gradation, manpower is irreplaceable. No doubt, technologies are faster and increases efficiency of your business but it runs only on money, without it, technologies cannot operate but in the case of humans, they value, love, caring, and relationships even when you are running out of cash they are the ones who will stand by you till the end.

VALUE YOUR MANPOWER, THEY ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF YOUR BUSINESS.

" it is what a man is,rather than what he has, that counts" vatican council II

Reporter for today !;)

Labor over Capital :)

"All capital is the fruit of human labor"
Meaning if labor didn't exist first then there will be no capital ;)

While the workers doing their task they also develop na skills that they have , enchancing the talents of the workers are the responsibiliy of the management through managing them or train them.

Where did all materials capital come from?
Ito un oh ..sa human labor who exert effort in order to have money or capital in short it is the result of human work ;),

Ways to become stress- resistant

Ways to Become Stress-Resistant
  • Stop feeling guilty.

Everyone experiences guilt at one time or another during their life. Guilt is a feeling of responsibility for something bad or wrong.Guilt has various sources. For example, it may come from thinking that you have done something wrong, caused someone harm or did nothing when you should have acted. It can also come from a sense that you have succeeded when others have failed, as in the case of survivor's guilt.

  • Be decisive.
Decisiveness is an essential aspect of manliness. No soldier wants to be under the command of an officer who stands flat-footed in the midst of crisis. No woman desires a beau who cannot decide what he wants in a relationship. No boss appreciates an employee who cannot make decisions on the fly. And no person respects the man who orders a burger and then spends the rest of the night talking about how he should have gotten fajitas.

The man the ladies want, the corporation promotes, and the world respects is the decisive man. The decisive man is calm and cool under pressure; he’s a take charge kind of guy; he has purpose and direction; he is the man with the plan.
  • Avoid being a perfectionist.
In theory, striving for perfection should foster success and happiness. In reality, it rarely does.
Perfectionism takes many forms: Needing to be perfect. Needing to become perfect. Needing to appear perfect. Perfect career, perfect relationship, perfect life.
For some, perfectionism arises from a mistaken belief that achievement is the best or only route to a good life, that happiness is a place and not a process. For others, it arises from a desire to win social approval by impressing others, avoiding criticism, not being seen making mistakes.

  • Set priorities for yourself.
How to Set Your Priorities Straight & Live a Life You Love
  1. Take a break. Think about your life. ...
  2. Think about the things you are doing every day. Write them down. ...
  3. Cut down on the urgent stuff. Or, else, clear out the clutter. ...
  4. Run a test week. ...
  5. Put in your life more of the important stuff.
  • Stop procrastinating.
Procrastination is an easy way that all of us get stuck. And yet, we may not even realize we’re doing it. When we unknowingly act like an Avoider, we create reasons in our heads that supply us with enough logic that we can delay the task at hand—sometimes indefinitely. Recognizing these avoidance tactics is half the battle in stopping them

 TIPS TO STOP PROCRASTINATING

  1. 1

Remind yourself that there’s always more to be done than can be done. Then ask yourself if you’re getting the right things done.
  2.
  3. 2

Make a smart to-do list by including only the items that you’re avoiding, not the ones you know you’ll do anyway. Then set deadlines.
  4.
  5. 3

Break the task down to lessen the sense of being overwhelmed. Once you start to enjoy a small accomplishment or two, you’re more likely to finish.
  6. 4

Eliminate temptation to do something else (if your Siren song is the computer, see "Tuning out digital distractions" below).
  7.
  8. 5

Bargain with yourself. If you finish the business plan now, you can go to the movies later.
  9.
  10. 6

Focus on the success you will achieve and the joy you will feel.
  11. 7

Come up with a consequence that will deter you from avoiding the task. If you don’t exercise two times a week, you have to give up talking on the phone with your friends.
  12.
  13. 8

Ask someone to help you complete the task.
  14.
  15. 9

Make your intentions public. This will add pressure, but for some of us, avoiding embarrassment is the mightiest motivator.

Distress vs Eustress

Eustress vs Distress

Many people are unaware that there are two categories of stress: Eustress and Distress
Eustress is the good stress that motivates you to continue working. Stress can be a motivater and provide incentive to get the job done. This "good stress" is what eustress can be identified as and some people enjoy it. Everyone needs a little bit of stress in their life in order to continue to be happy, motivated, challenged and productive. It is when this stress is no longer tolerable and/or manageable that distress comes in.

Dito ung pagkastress mo alam mo na may magandang result if ginawa mo sia kahit hirap kana.
Good example ay about sa grades sa school if may failing grade ka mapupush mo ung sarili mo na galingan or magaral pa ng maayos upang magkaroon ng magandang grade.
Bad stress, or distress, is when the good stress becomes to much to bear or cope with. Tension builds, there is no longer any fun in the challenge, there seems to be no relief, no end in sight. This is the kind of stress most of us are familiar with and this is the kind of stress that leads to poor decision making. Physiological symptoms of distress include and increase in blood pressure, rapid breathing and generalized tension. Behavioral symptoms include overeating, loss of appetite, drinking, smoking and negative coping mechanisms.
